We are almost ready to start thinking about
considering potty training.
[Don't I sound confident?]
Mary Beth is showing some interest and actually
(by accident - while sitting on the potty while I started her bath water) used the potty tonight!
She occasionally (typically after spending the day with older kids) goes through spells when she says she wants to "go pa-yee"
We thought we'd wait until later this summer, but if she's interested now, why not just play along?
Alright Moms! This is the audience participation portion....
I need to know...
What books you read? Info you saw on TV? Things you learned from friends? or tricks that just happened to work?
when you started potty training.

I am not a mom, but a father with experience. Instant Rewards, what I mean we went to Wal mart and got about 20 dollars woth of those 1.00 hot wheel cars (or match box cars) and when he did it the way he was supposed to we would reward him with his pick of the toys. maybe that might work, as a positive immediate reward for the positive behaviour.
I am not going to be much help b/c my boys aren't even close to potty training. BUT, from friends I have heard the potty treats(candy) work really well. And just to do it cold turkey. Pick a week, plan to mostly stay home and say goodbye to the diapers for good! Good luck!!!
Emily waited forever to accomplish this. After months of coaxing and just leaving the potty in her bathroom, nothing happened. So we decided to just leave her diapers off, stay home, and have her run around naked. She hated not having diapers on and threw a tantrum, beating on my legs and saying, "I want my diapers!" I stood firm and she went in and used the potty.
When we were potty training Jillian we made sure to wait until she wanted to try. Jillian was right at two when she first got interested but with me pregnant we decided to wait until after Jackson was born. By the time we really started she was 2 1/2 and really wanted a ballerina outfit. We tried the sticker system (one sticker for every successful potty trip) and when she got all twenty she got to get her ballerina outfit! Jillian was very easy because kept saying she didn't want to be a baby like her little brother! Good Luck!
