Am I crazy?

I am thinking about having a yard sale... I have never actually done a yard sale before but it seems simple enough, right?
I have heard about how much work it is and its not like you make a ton of money....
What are your experiences? Seriously, I need your input...

I've been waiting for our next "neighborhood" yard sale, but we have a new board this year and it looks like we might not be doing one, and I have been collecting stuff in my garage for a year now!
SOOO, I've been bouncing back and forth about whether or not I should just go ahead and do it.

I'm on a deadline, here, if I'm gonna do it - I need to do it May 2nd (because I wanna give my leftovers to the youth yard sale which is on May 9th) so I have to make a decision!

I'm also wondering if anyone else has some
junk TREASURES that they need to sell too. We could make it a "multi-family" sale.

Another question: Where to advertise? I have lots of places online, but I'm not sure if that would reach my 'target customer' ... You see, my mom, has given me tons of stuff from her house --- things that which a "wiser" generation would find beautiful. Do ya get what I'm saying? I'm pretty sure the majority of this 'wiser generation' doesn't search online to find yard sales. Ya know, what I mean? I need to figure out a place that this 'wiser generation' would look to find out about yard sales.

Okay, I think that's all of my questions for now...
Should I do this or am I crazy?

Come join our neighborhood yard sale! I'm sort of organizing one for may 2nd too! For the very same reason as you. I know one neighbor is joining, haven't heard from others. But being right on Reidville Rd, I figured we'd have some good traffic. And we have so much junk - a lot of nice junk :) I know it would be a lot of work, but if you want to join us, come on over! You can pile stuff on our back porch (like I plan to do) on Friday and sell sell sell on the 2nd! This will be my first yard sale too. :)

The best place to get the word out is in the newspaper. Depending on what you have I usually make at least $200.00 when I have one. Also you need to price your stuff ahead of time. The have some stickers at the Dollar Tree. And if you put it in the paper there will be some "wiser" people out with their flashlights looking through your stuff before you even get it out...lol.

Hey Laura! Definately have a yard sale, we've had two since we've been married and are about to have another one! I agree that the newspaper is the best place to advertise and I would suggest starting early. The more "mature" generation likes to get up early! =) We have made anywhere from 175-300 bucks! Have Fun!

We will be having our yard sale on the 2nd also... the paper is the best place to advertise... just make sure to get it in for Fridays and Sat. editions.... it shouldn't be extra for the extra day...they also list the yard sales online at go upstate.com me and Heather are avid yard salers. and we always check the paper and online... Good luck
